The Witcher 3 Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

will release on next-gen consoles as a free update for current owners of the game on PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4 CD Projekt Red announced today.

The next-gen port will take advantage of the new hardware and will feature “a range of visual and technical improvements.” Ray tracing and faster loading times are confirmed.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition features all the expansion packs and additional content, players will be able to export save files and continue their adventure on next-gen consoles, however, is still unclear the official launch date on PS5 and Xbox Series X is possible that the game releases on the launch window, but we will have to wait for more information.

In CD Projekt Red’s financial report, the company confirms “excellent sales” of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Nintendo Switch, the Polish developer reported  PLN 364 million (€81.8 million) in revenue, up 70% year-on-year. Even with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 remains to be crucial to the developer’s financial strength as reported by Games Industry

In May this year, the franchise passed 50 million cumulative sales, with the third game representing the majority share of that figure.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had sold 20 million lifetime units as of June 2019, and it went on to sell six million units in that calendar year alone.

Created by CD PROJEKT RED, The Witcher is a series of fantasy role-playing games following the adventures of professional monster slayer Geralt of Rivia. To date, the series has sold over 50 million copies worldwide and garnered over 1000 awards. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which released in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and later in 2019 on the Nintendo Switch, won a total of 250 Game of the Year awards. The Witcher games are set in the universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski in his series of books.
