Developer inXile Entertainment announced today that they’ve partnered with Techland Publishing to bring Torment: Tides of Numenera to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early Q1 2017, alongside the PC version.
A science-fantasy RPG, Torment: Tides of Numenera is one of the most successful games ever on Kickstarter, receiving nearly $4.2 million. Originally only set for PC, inXile and Techland “have been hard at work behind the scenes to ensure the title will have a console launch simultaneous with the PC version.”
“Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut‘s success and the gratitude expressed by a lot of fans after this release made us begin to plan the Torment: Tides of Numenera for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” inXile’s Brian Fargo said. “We’re especially excited to work with Techland, who – as a fellow developer – know exactly how to execute such a release without compromising the quality.”
Check out the Trailer:
“Launched on Kickstarter back in 2013, Torment: Tides of NIMH is a sort of spiritual successor to Black Isle’s 1999 cult-popular Planescape: Torment, an old school Dungeons & Dragons RPG in which you had to find a way to give those lurking Dustman leatherheads the laugh, get yourself out into the Cage, and tumble to the dark of it all. It also featured a talking skull. People obviously wanted more of that, with the campaign banking its $900,000 target cash in just six hours, and more than $4 million over the next 30 days.”
