Though Dead or Alive 6 just recently released at the start of this month, Koei Tecmo has already launched the free, slightly dismantled version ‘Core Fighters’ on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Steam.
This is actually becoming a common move for the publishers, as Dead or Alive 5 also received the same free edition. The Core Fighters release comes equipped with a much smaller selection of characters and lacks the Story Mode, but does allow players to engage in online matches and other game modes to tie them over.
If players like what they experience in the Core Fighters release, they then have the option of purchasing the remaining characters, as well as the Story Mode as paid DLC.
Here’s an official description via PSN:
This is a free version which allows use of many game modes, including online matches. However, only a limited number of playable characters is available, and the Story mode will be locked. The remaining characters and the Story mode can be purchased separately as downloadable content.
You can hop into Dead or Alive 6 now via the free Core Fighters edition and make an accurate decision if the latest fighter is what you’ve been yearning for. So far, the reviews have been fairly mixed, so it may just be up to the player to decide if it’s an appropriate title for their fighting needs.
Dead or Alive 6 officially released on March 1, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
