25% of Ubisoft Employees Have Witnessed Misconduct

According to GamesIndustry, Ubisoft’s investigations on the recent allegations of misconduct have revealed that of the 14,000 employees surveyed, 25 percent have experienced, or witnessed misconduct.

The survey also reveals that approximately 20 percent of the workforce does not feel safe in the office. The sickening culture of Ubisoft in the last 2 years has seen women in the company experiencing harassment, and minority groups experiencing up to 43 percent more abuse than other ethnic and cultural groups.

Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has released a letter to employees, read an extract of the missive down below, (via Gamestop)

Dear all,

As I promised, I am coming back to you to provide an update on the situation we are going through and give you an outline of our focus areas and actions.

Our Head of Workplace Culture, Lidwine Sauer, and your Managing Director will schedule sessions to share some of the findings from these assessments. Overall, the results highlight four closely related areas in which we need to improve quickly:

  1. Guarantee a working environment where everyone feels respected and safe
  2. Putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do
  3. Refocus and strengthen our HR function
  4. Make the managers of the group accountable and empower them

Back in June 2020, Ubisoft announced the start of investigations of the allegations of harassment, sexual assault, and misconduct. Tommy François and Maxime Béland have both been forced to leave the company as the allegations against them were overwhelming.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Creative Director Ashraf Ismail has also been fired from Ubisoft due to his criminal behavior, investigations found that some of the allegations filed against him were true, as it was confirmed by an internal announcement shared within the Ubisoft Montreal.

Ubisoft is now facing a collective lawsuit against them from Solidaires Informatique, the defense, led by Maude Beckers, promises total confidentiality and legal support.
