Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming free-to-play FPS XDefiant has been delayed to an October release from its initial summer release window. The decision comes as a result of the title failing to meet Microsoft and Sony’s console certification tests. In a recent update on the Ubisoft website, executive producer Mark Rubin stated that the game will now likely need additional work to meet each platform’s requirements. According to Rubin, the issue is specifically Compliance bugs, which are “ones that relate to the systems and overall experience that the first parties expect from games on their platform.” He also stated that the team is currently in the CM prep part of that process and will “hopefully be submitting to 1st parties in a little less than 2 weeks. If it passes then the team then “could be looking at a mid-to-end of September release.”
