This morning Sony announced a brand new special edition Playstation 4 bundle in order to prepare for impending release of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This new PS4 SKU contains a physical retail copy of Uncharted 4 in its own clam shell case. The bundle also has a 500GB gray blue PS4 that features a jet-black silk screen decal of Nathan Drake across the top side of the machine. The system also sports the Playstation logo, the Uncharted series logo and the Latin phrase “SIC PARVIS MAGNA “ in gold. Just like the engravings on Nathan Drake’s gold ring, this phrase means “Greatness from small beginnings.” The system is partnered with a Dual Shock 4 controller that has the same color scheme. This special edition bundle is going to retail in the US and Canada at $399.99 USD and $499.99 CAD.
Sony also announced that pre-orders will be available later on today, which can be purchased through the official Playstation site. People who choose to pre-order this bundle will also get a bonus in the form of an exclusive voucher. This code will unlock a special outfit for Drake, a gold weapon skin and some special Uncharted points for use in the game’s multiplayer mode.
For those who simply want to own the blue gray Dual Shock 4 pad, these will become available after the full bundle’s initial release later this month. Though the special bundle does not include it, Sony will also be releasing a similarly colored iteration of the wireless headset also baring “SIC PARVIS MAGNA,” but this accessory will not be ready to reach the market on day one of Drake’s fourth outing. It will instead see release at some point in early March. This headset apparently supports a special audio mode exclusive to Uncharted 4. Sony has not elaborated on this feature, but it has to do with the Headset Companion App that is also coming along with Uncharted 4.
The Uncharted 4 500GB PS4 bundle will launch on April 26 along with the standalone retail version of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End exclusively for the PS4.
