V1 Interactive
, the studio behind the sci-fi tactical shooter Disintegration announced that it’s officially shutting down.
The studio was founded in 2016 by Marcus Lehto, former Creative Art Director for Bungie when the studio was working for the Halo franchise. Under Lehto’s direction, V1 Interactive released Disintegration, a tactical shooter with transhuman characters. V1 released a multiplayer mode for the game but it was removed six months after it was added to the game.
V1 Interactive says that the mode was dropped as Disintegration’s strength was the single-player mode, the multiplayer mode ” struggled to build a significant audience necessary for a compelling multiplayer experience” and was inevitably removed.
We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing. We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last 5 years wonderful. And a heartfelt thanks to the amazing community that supported us.
At V1, our priority has been to the wellbeing of our employees. We’ve been transparent with them about the state of things for months and are making this decision now so they still have ample time to search for new jobs while being supported by our studio.
, a developer at Bungie encouraged V1 Interactive‘s former boss, Marcus Lehto to join the Bungie team for a second spell and help them to produce new content for Destiny 2.
The only game developed by the 30-person indie team is Disintegration, the game is currently available for $39.99 and offers a unique blend of FPS and RTS elements 200 years into the future of Earth.
Players take the role of Romer Shoal, a former Gravcycle pilot in command of a small resistance force still grasping onto the fading memories of their human selves. With the domineering Rayonne forces set on eliminating the final remnants of human society, it’s up to Romer and his crew of Outlaws to fight back and reboot humanity.
