Valus will be the first colossus you face in Shadow of the Colossus. For the most part, his hard time attack requirement is not that difficult. You get 2 minutes, 45 seconds to kill him and that is usually more than enough, assuming you’re not having any bad luck. The first thing you want to do is climb his left foot, stab his vital until he kneels down, and then keep climbing up his left leg and onto the platform above that hangs on his waist. When you climb up to the platform, stand still for a few seconds to fully regain your stamina and then continue climbing up his back and all way to his head, and then start stabbing it until the vital disappears. He might start shaking here quite a bit, and if he does, just get through it because there is not much you can do.
His next vital point is on the back of his right arm, and it’s a bit harder to get to. It’s riskier, and honestly the hardest part of this fight. Once you’re done with destroying the vital on top of his head, you want to regain your stamina by standing still on his back. Then, go down his right shoulder while grabbing on to his fur by holding R2. Slowly climb down to the back of his right arm. If you want, you can let go of the fur and press R2 again to grab on to the small platform that’s above his vital point. Once you’re at the vital point, start stabbing it until he dies. It’s over for Valus. Congrats, assuming you destroyed his vitals under a timely manner and didn’t have much trouble, you have killed him under 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
