Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt Has Victim of Key Reseller Scam

Several weeks ago the developers of the upcoming city building game Frostpunk II found that their game was being sold through a key reseller site, despite not yet having a price for the game or any idea when it would release. It took about a week to rectify the situation, but at least the issue was eventually solved. Now it appears that another game is falling victim to reselling, the free-to-play Battle Royale game Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt.

Entering early access on Steam tomorrow, the latest entry in the World of Darkness series will be free-to-play, which is a similar route to how most games in the genre choose to go. However, the Brand community developer for World of Darkness, Outstar Walker spotted some reselling listings showcasing the game with a slashed price and a cheaper one below. Nither of the prices were zero dollars.

According to her tweet, this is not an isolated incident as she states that “more key resellers are putting a price tag on the key,” before reminding players that the game is free. Another site, CDkeys, is listing the game at $19.95. What is worse is that even in their case, a fictitious higher price was crafted to imply that your purchase would save you money in the long run.

Bloodhunt is the companies first foray into the Battle Royale genre. It will feature the player taking on the roles of multiple different vampire classes from both the tabletop RPG and they’re most well know game Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. It will see players fighting across a city, and using their class abilities to attempt and come out on top in the Blood hunt.

As a fan of the franchise, I can definitely say I will be trying this out. If you are thinking of playing it, remember to skip the resellers and go straight to Steam for it, and always do your due diligence before buying a code from a third-party site.
