VTM: Bloodhunt Showcased at SGF Live!

Last year we got our first look at an all-new battle royale game set in the Vampire The Masquerade universe. At the time little was actually seen of the game, only making a point to connect it to the larger universe. The biggest fact we learned at the time was that a new studio, Sharkmob,  was set up to build the game. We now know this game’s full title is Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt.

Well, unfortunately, we will have to wait a bit longer before any official gameplay is shown. During the Summer Games Fest Live! event we were treated to a pretty nice-looking action trailer for the game. While this is probably not indicative of gameplay, like all VTM trailers, it is worth watching.

As of recently the franchise as a whole has been on the rise. Several games set within the World of Darkness Universe such as Coteries of New York and Werewolf: The apocalypse has already released to varying degrees of success.  Vampires The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, the sequel to the popular PC exclusive RPG from 2004 is on the horizon, though recently a change of developers has caused a delay.

VTM is a modern-day story using projecting vampires as more akin to mobsters and street hoods. This does lend itself well to the idea of a high octane battle royale. However, the masquerade, a series of rules vampires must follow would probably not permit a free for all, shoot em up in the streets. I look forward to seeing how they get around this.

You can sign up for the PC alpha here, with the game scheduled for release at some point during 2021. It has only been confirmed for release on PC so far.
