It was announced by independent video game studio, Wales Interactive, a partnership with Ffilm Cymru Wales and Red and Black Films to create the VR horror game, Don’t Knock Twice.
Check out the Vr demo trailer of Don’t Knock Twice, featuring some gameplay footage and game reactions:
“The game will launch in April 2017 following the upcoming horror film, Don’t Knock Twice. The film, created by Red and Black Films, stars Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and is directed by Caradog James (The Machine) with the entire production filmed in South Wales.
Owners of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift (Oculus Touch only) will now have access to download the free demo of Don’t Knock Twice on Steam.
David Banner, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Wales Interactive commented; “Ffilm Cymru Wales have used their expertise to help two industries come together to create something that has never been done before in Wales. We hope the success of this collaboration has potential to open up similar opportunities to more Welsh creatives and entrepreneurs from both the gaming and film industry. The game will launch early next year on three platforms including three leading VR devices and so we look forward to giving horror enthusiasts a scare they’ll never forget.”
Don’t Knock Twice is based on a psychologically terrifying urban legend. In the game, players will take the role of a guilt-ridden mother who, to save her estranged daughter, must uncover the frightening truth behind the urban tale of a vengeful, demonic witch.
The player will be immersed in a VR grand manor house environment and can interact with almost every visible object. To find and save the daughter, gamers will explore all depths of the manor, searching for hidden clues and using items to fight or escape the terror that surrounds them.”
Hannah Thomas, Head of Creative Sector Development at Ffilm Cymru Wales added “Ffilm Cymru Wales is very keen to help filmmakers get the most value out of their ideas and reach new audiences, and this is something we seek to promote via our Magnifier initiative. Enabling Red & Black films to work with award winning games developers Wales Interactive is the perfect example of this and we’re very excited (and a little scared!) by the progress made on this game so far.”
John Giwa-Amu, Producer at Red and Black Films added “We’re thrilled to be working with Dai and the team at Wales Interactive. The support of Ffilm Cymru Wales has enabled a collaboration between game and film which would ordinarily only be possible for larger studio movies. Caradog and I have literally watched players screaming out loud they’ve been so terrified when playing!”
