Independent developer Fatshark has finally announced a release date for their upcoming four player co-op- title Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Launch date has been set for September 13, 2o22. Fatshark has also released a short video that shows what the squad is up to in the meantime:
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a follow-up to the popular Vermintide franchise, and is set in the hive city of Tertium. Like Vermintide, Darktide is a Back 4 Blood-esque intense four player co-op action game that will have players fighting against hordes of enemies with four unique playable characters:
Fatshark brings the four-player co-op experience to the 41st Millennium in 2022. Go deep into the hive city and face hordes of enemies you have only seen in your nightmares. Players will not be able to hide behind lethal ranged weapons; they’ll need to combine both FPS and melee skills as they get up close and personal in visceral clashes between Imperium and Chaos factions. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will bring everything you have come to expect from the developers of the multimillion-selling award-winning Warhammer: Vermintide franchise.
Since the game was announced at last year’s Xbox Games Showcase in the summer, it has been a permanent fixture on the Steam Top 10 for wishlisted games. Fatshark’s previous entry in the Warhammer universe, Vermintide 2, was received positively by fans and critics alike, and sold over 2 million copies worldwide. While Vermintide was set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, Darktide is set in the futuristic 40k universe. Darktide is also part of the first wave of games that have been developed to make use of next-generation technology, and therefore will not be available on previous generation hardware. Darktide is also a Microsoft exclusive, and therefore will only be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
