The Haunting of Verdansk has begun in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the Halloween event features two villains from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw.
Activision also confirmed that the Halloween-themed event is packed with new weapons, new modes, and a Trick or Treat reward system. Operators will be rewarded with Supply Boxes, those will contain “frights or frighteningly good blueprints and personalization items.”
Players who collect all the sixteen individual rewards will unlock the “Pumpkin Punisher” Legendary Assault Rife blueprint, which comes pre-configured with attachments that make the weapon “downright terrifying” in Warzone.
As Halloween draws near, a squad of operators drops in for what seems to be a normal infiltration into Verdansk… though there’s been back-channel chatter about some unexplained and odd occurrences across the remote areas of the map.
Operators have been briefed about reports concerning a serial killer who wears his victim’s faces on his own. There’s scattered intel about strange sounds emanating from various locations within the warzone; and not least the piercing, creepy laugher of a ventriloquist doll….
It isn’t long before hell breaks loose: One by one, the squad is brutally picked off until there is just one survivor, who after a confrontation with Verdansk’s own urban legend, vows to return under the cover of night and avenge his brothers in arms.
Activision also announced that Warzone players will for the first time ever experiencing nighttime inflitrations in Verdansk. Operators will need to pack Thermal optics in their loadout drops to spot enemies hidden in dark areas.
A new limited-time mode is available, Zombie Royale will take operators in a frightening fight against powerful zombified creatures. Players who die on the field won’t be sent to the Gulag area, they will come back to action as a zombie.
Players who take control of a Zombie cannot use weapons but will have a supernatural abilties such as: thermal vision, stronger melee attacks, and overall buff in speed and jump.
