Superman is probably the hardest superhero to translate to video games. As the old adage goes he is “Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!” While the Flash can of course outrun him, his combination of abilities has a track record of making it a nightmare of making a fun game about him.
This long issue started all the way back with Superman 64, often considered one of the worst games ever made. It is, but you have to admit that most of the issues with the game stem from ‘How do we make Superman beatable’. A tie-in to Superman Returns also released to similarly disastrous results. However, in a world where both Spider-man and Batman are sitting on not just good but great games could we finally see Superman get the game he deserves?

According to Serial Leaker James Sigfield, we have at least one attempt at it coming from WB Montreal. Currently, the team is working on putting the finishing touches on their Gotham Knights game, an open-world co-op game in which you play the bat family. However, according to a job listing from several months ago, we know that they also have a second game in the works.
James Sigfield had taken to Twitter to discuss the merits of a new Superman game, with many of the posts being liked by the Studio in question. While this isn’t evidence of anything on its own, James is the leaker behind early reports for both Gotham Knights and the Suicide Squad game.
While Superman is an established character, in this case, a new IP would refer to a project by the studio. Since They have never worked on a superman project before it would be a new IP under their belt, just as Batman was for Rocksteady.
Rumors after the end of the Batman Arkham series also placed a Superman project as Rocksteady game’s next project. These turned out to be ‘semi’ true as their next game has you trying to kill Superman and not playing as him.
It is obvious based on several titles coming from WB that they want a bigger presence in the video game market for DC IPs. However, like all rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
