Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Reboot Confirmed For Consoles
DotEmu & Lizardcube have unveiled their reveal trailer for their upcoming remake of 1989 Master System classic Wonderboy: The Dragon’s Trap.
The platforming and action-adventure title Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap was released for the Sega Master System in 1989 and Game Gear three years later as Monster World 2: The Dragon’s Trap.
This will be the franchise’s first new release in 22 years, and comes from new French studio Lizardcube and will be published by DotEmu. From the early gameplay footage, we can see that they have remade Monster Town in a hand-drawn graphic style. Each of the animal forms demonstrate their respective special abilities (except the Lion’s Amazing Arc Swing), with fluid animations and a HUD that actually tells you which Subweapon you’re using fills the listeners witha sense of, well…. Wonder at what awaits them in this upcoming remake.
Check out the Trailer:
“Description
A good curse makes a good game (or so they say)! turned into a half-human, half-lizard monstrosity by the Meka-Dragon, a lonesome adventurer is facing the challenge of a lifetime! In search for a cure, our mutated anti-hero will explore the many traps of Monster Land… and defeat many stuff-throwing, curse-wielding dragons. How many more transformations can one hopeful body survive, as it turns into a Lizard, a Mouse, a Piranha, a Lion, and a Hawk… The six different forms of our shape-shifting hero make up the cast of this non-stop action-adventure platformer!”
