Hot off it’s recent release on PC and consoles, World War Z has already surpassed one million units sold across all platforms combined. More than a quarter of those sales came on the PC platform which is exclusive to the Epic Game Store.
The developer, Saber Interactive, has been vocal about their decision to make the multiplayer zombie shooter available only on Epic Games’ new storefront, with chief executive Matthew Karch stating, “On the PC specifically, we are performing way above expectations thanks to the support we have received from the Epic Games Store.”
The game has also been linked to the Epic Store’s record setting weekend along with other big name titles adding to the Epic Store success, such as The Division 2 and Metro: Exodus.
Karch has been big on boasting the Epic Store claiming that the big sales figures both inside and outside the US are largely due to being exclusive on the digital store. While seemingly confident, Karch hasn’t exactly detailed why he seems World War Z has performed better on Epic than if it were released on steam as well.
