Multiplayer titles have always had a big chance of succeeding in financial performance, regardless of how they appear in terms of content quality. However, I think most of us were underestimating World War Z, probably since our eyes were captivated by titles like Days Gone, Mortal Kombat 11 and Rage 2. But anyway, Saber Interactive’s co-op based game did a great job in sales by selling nearly 2 million copies in one month.
Announced by Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive, World War Z has successfully sold 1 million units in its launch week and then the number increased to reach 2 million units just in months after release. Josh Austin from Paramount Pictures, the company that owns the IP for World War Z movies and games, has mentioned the game’s successful financial performance, and also praised the work of both Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive in cultivating such an experience. He said:
World War Z has fast become one of our most successful interactive games to date. It’s a testament to both the incredible co-op action experience that Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have crafted, as well as the strong appeal of our hit franchise with fans across the globe.
World War Z is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Epic Games Store. The game will receive free post-launch contents with a periodic order. New story missions, new enemies, higher difficulty adjustments and new modes along with different weapons and cosmetic items are part of these upcoming updates for the game.
