World War Z Sold More Than 1 Million Copies At Launch Week

Fighting against hundreds of zombies and trying to survive have always been a breath-taking experience with so much unexpected exciting moments on the way, and it gets funnier if you do survive in a team-based gameplay along with your friends. So many games have attempted to deliver such a great company between players to create an addictive gameplay with the elements of co-op genre and multiplayer modes, but to be honest, just a few titles have succeeded to achieve the milestone. However, regardless of how successfully Saber Interactive’s new project did in reaching that milestone, World War Z showed a strong performance in sales at launch week.

According to the studio’s CEO Matthew Karch, World War Z has sold more than one million copies in its first week through all platforms worldwide. While a quarter of sales are dedicated to US players, the game has also experienced amazing purchases in other countries, especially through PC version via Epic Games Store. As you may know, World War Z is Epic Games Store exclusive and now that we got the stats for sales of first week, it seems the exclusivity hasn’t damaged the sales, as the PC version of the game has sold more than 250,000 units. In order to provide more details on the sales, Matthew Karch claimed:

Overall the U.S. and EU have been equally strong in sales. We have had 70,000 people playing at once across all platforms, with very similar distribution among PC (Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox. What surprises us is the fact that sales outside of the U.S. on the Epic Store have been so strong, with the U.S. being only one-quarter of sales.

Despite World War Z’s mediocre reviews on different websites, the game started its early days of release pretty well thanks to its multiplayer gameplay and $35 price tag, which may convince you to prefer it to other similar titles that charge you 60 dollars.

World War Z is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. If you don’t know yet the game suits your type of choices or not, wait for the review of Gaming Instincts that comes in the following days. Also try out our Youtube channel for some interesting exclusive videos.
