Microsoft has just announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold console subscribers are now able to play Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Xbox Game Pass is a subscription based service that features over 350 free games, available as long as the user is subscribed to the service. Xbox Game Pass costs 9.99$ a month for console users and 4.99$ for PC. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes both PC and console bundled with the online functionality. Xbox Live Gold goes for $44.99 quarterly. New subscribers can start from $1 for the first month.
Grand Theft Auto V needs no introduction, as one of the best titles in the franchise, the game stretches replay value to levels never seen before, with plenty of side missions, three protagonists, and solid story telling. Grand Theft Auto Online still has a broad community and expands the possibilities offered in Grand Theft Auto V. However, as it’s a multiplayer game, Xbox Live Gold is required to play online.
Last week, Xbox boss Phil Spencer spoke about Xbox Game Pass, saying that the service has expanded the gaming industry by providing players with a diverse library of games from which to choose.
“We see players willing to take risks on new games and new genres because when you’re already in the subscription it’s as easy as clicking on something, downloading the game, and starting to play,” Spencer told GameInformer. “The diversity of content in Game Pass, the genres in Game Pass, the things people play, I think it’s a really healthy part of our industry.”
Xbox Game Pass features an ever-expanding library of over 350 titles, recently AAA titles like Halo: Reach, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, and Rage 2 were made available.
