developer Dice, with Publisher EA, has announced a new partnership with Microsoft to declare the Xbox the “Official Console” of the upcoming shooter. This title seems to be simply a statement, as this partnership does not clearly outline the benefits Xbox will receive over other consoles.
This is part of a series of partnerships that were announced by the company. These partnerships include Nvidia for the “ultimate PC experience”, Logitech so they “ensure players have Logitech integration”, Polaris to “bring players the opportunity to operate authentic Polaris vehicles in Battlefield 2042”, and finally WD_Black so “gamers have the best possible gaming experience”.
These deals were put in place, seemingly, to ensure better performance of the game across Xbox and PC. However as stated above, these benefits have not been clearly stated and the game will release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the same day.
More information on this partnership will most likely be given during the upcoming EA Play Live event that will take place on July 22. The game has been confirmed to be present there, with its newest mode being the focal point of its showcase.
Battlefield 2042 is the latest entry in the long-running military shooter series. Unlike the previous two games, this game will not feature a single-player campaign, instead choosing to focus on the frantic, big battle multiplayer the series is known more. This is more in line with the roots of the franchise, similar to Battlefield 1942.
This time around the game will see a semi-futuristic setting. The game will also feature the biggest battles the series has had to offer with 128 person battles in very large maps. Battlefield 2042 will release on October 22, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
