Xbox One Adds New Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility Games

Xbox One Adds New Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility Games

After Microsoft announced that games from the original Xbox will be coming as backwards compatible games for the Xbox One, they made it clear that these games would not be released regularly, but they would be coming sooner or later to the Xbox One. Only one batch of Xbox games has been released, but today, a new list that includes some quality additions has now arrived.

It appears that Microsoft will be releasing two groups of original Xbox games will be coming on April 17th and another one on April 26th. Both groups of original Xbox games include some interesting games, though the group of games that will be releasing on April 26th, seems to be focused on Star War games.

Here’s the full list of the original Xbox games that will be coming to the Xbox One on April:

Original Xbox games releasing on April 17:

  • Blinx The Time Sweeper
  • Breakdown
  • Conker: Live & Reloaded
  • The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
  • Hunter: The Reckoning
  • Jade Empire
  • Panzer Dragoon Orta
  • SSX 3

Original Xbox games releasing on April 26:

  • Destroy All Humans!
  • Full Spectrum Warrior
  • Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
  • MX Unleashed
  • Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only)
  • Star Wars: Battlefront
  • Star Wars: Battlefront 2
  • Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
  • Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords
  • Stars Wars: Republic Commando

To be able to play original Xbox backwards compatible games, just insert the original Xbox disc for any of these games into your Xbox One console if you still have them. If you own them digitally, you will also be able to play them. Many of these games can also be purchased from the Xbox Store.

Microsoft also announced that another group of classic Xbox 360 games are receiving Xbox One X enhancements today, including the popular game by Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption, the popular puzzle game Portal 2, and the action-packed game by Microsoft Studios, Gears of War 2.

Unfortunately it seems that original Xbox games will not be available for online multiplayer, so games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 won’t have an online feature available.

Daily Star said in an article on their website:

“The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature, introduced in November 2015, lets you play original Xbox and Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One, Xbox One S or Xbox One X.

On revealing the new feature, Microsoft promised “hundreds” of games would come to the service and they’ve no disappointed, adding the likes of Red Dead Redemption, the Bioshock trilogy, the Mass Effect trilogy, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and a number of Call of Duty games to name but a few.

That’s before we mention the original Xbox games, which also came to the service on October 24, 2017, following their reveal at E3 2017.”
