In a recent Bloomberg Tech interview as transcribed by IGN, Xbox president Sarah Bond stated that Xbox games will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass and that subscribers are “going to see some more really big games going into Game Pass later this year.”“We know our core users love Game Pass.” She said, “Game Pass is a gaming subscription. You get a whole portfolio of games, but importantly, you get every single one of our games that we build on day one in Game Pass, and the quality and breadth of those games have only been going up over time. You’re going to see some more really big games going into Game Pass later this year.” Bond was then asked if the service will get Activision titles in the future. In response, Bond said that “you’re going to see some really amazing things. And keeping that as something that is really special for Xbox players is central for us.” It’s worth noting that there have been reports that Microsoft is considering bringing Xbox titles to the subscription service. Judging by this response, it’s not out of the question that the company will bring the franchise to the service.
Microsoft Gaming president Matt Booty recently sent out a company-wide email announcing that Bethesda Softworks will close down Arkane Austin (Redfall) Tango Gameworks (HI-FI RUSH, The Evil Within) Alpha Dog Games (Mighty DOOM), and Roundhouse Studios. According to the email, this was done “so that we can invest more deeply in our portfolio of games and new IP.” It also notes that “a small number of roles across select Bethesda publishing and corporate teams will also be eliminated.”
