Sony faced a troubled pre-order launch for PlayStation 5, today Microsoft launched the pre-order for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, customers saw the same chaos seen recently for the PlayStation 5.
Xbox announced the start of preorders at 8 am pt/ 11 am ET, customers massively logged in to the retailers website and managed to crash the servers, making it nearly impossible to secure a Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.
Not even the Microsoft Store was prepared by the ammount of customers trying to order a next-gen Xbox, Target and Walmart ran out of units after a few minutes. Large retailers like GameStop, Amazon and Best Buy also presented outages when users tried to access the website.
The supply of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is now being sold by scalpers on Ebay, more than 900 units are being sold at a much higher MSPR, prices varies from 700 USD to over 1000 USD.While this kind of transactions are not illegal, Microsoft must be working to increase the units available on retailers in order to satisfy the demand of real Xbox customers.
Xbox Series S and Series X will be available in 37 countries on November 10, and 41 countries by this holiday. You can secure your place in the next generation by pre-ordering Xbox Series X at $499 (Estimated Retail Price) or Xbox Series S at $299 (Estimated Retail Price), or for a low monthly price through Xbox All Access. Or grab both, if that’s your thing!
Certainly, the Xbox vision is completely different from Sony’s statement in which they warned a restrictive pre-order strategy. Xbox is confident that enough units will be sold in the following months, enough to satisfy the demand for the most powerful next-gen console.
