Xenoblade Chronicles 3 In Development – Rumor

Part of the Xeno series of games, Xenoblade Chronicles has proven to be a successful JRPG franchise for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch has multiple JRPG franchises that release on the franchise, have become the portable system to replace the PlayStation Vita when it came to many franchises such as Disgaea and Ys, Xenoblade Chronicles has served as a strong console exclusive.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was released early on in the Switch’s life and performed both critically and financially well. A remaster of the original, titled Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition also saw release on the switch.

A few months ago a small youtube channel of only roughly around 33 subscribers named Din’s Meteorite did an interview with voice actress Jenna Coleman. While now Coleman is most likely known to audiences for her roles on Doctor Who and Emmerdale, 10 years ago she was portraying Melia in the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

Though this interview was published about 2 months ago it has only recently begun to gather traction due to a slip of the tongue on Colmans Part. In the interview, she discussed the franchise, including the recent remaster and the sequel. It was, however, when she discussed being approached for the sequel where she accidentally let slip this tidbit:

God, when was the first game? Ten years ago? It was a long time ago, I did it pre-Doctor Who days and when they did the second one , they asked me to come back. And I think they’re going to do another. Common knowledge? Don’t know. Yeah, I think they’re going to do another. Not sure if I’m allowed to say that.

While none of these can be confirmed by us there have been multiple rumors that have begun to compound onto this. The first is that it is indeed true there is a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 pretty far in development. Second, that it was supposed to be announced earlier this year however delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have delayed that.

The game is being developed by Monolith Soft and is being optimized for the Nintendo Switch. A major goal of development is to allow for more character models to appear on screen than before, both enemy and players.
