It was announced by a Japanese gamer named Ryokutya2089, that the next installment in the Yo-Kai Watch series, simply known as Yo-Kai Watch 4 for the time being, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch rather than the Nintendo 3DS. This will be exciting news to many Nintendo gamers who are fans of the series and wanted the game to come to the newest Nintendo console.
This news will be formally revealed in this week’s issue of the Japanese magazine Famitsu. Currently there’s not much information for the time being, other than it will feature classic characters from the anime series, including fan-favourites Touma Tsukinami, Natsume Amano, Keisuke Amano, and Akinori Arihoshi.
In the West, Nintendo gamers got Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters for the Nintendo 3DS last year and no doubt Yo-Kai Watch 3 (released in 2016 in Japan) will be localised for Western audiences soon, so if you prefer to play in a Nintendo 3DS still, you shouldn’t feel like you are missing out too much.
Recently Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino stated in regards to the next game in the series that “its content is getting a super high-grade power up, including some things that will surprise everyone.” We look forward to learning more when the latest issue of Famitsu appears in all good Japanese newsagents later this week.
This will be the first main title of the franchise in arriving at the hybrid console of Nintendo. As you all know to date, all major deliveries of the series had appeared on Nintendo 3DS, so the jump to the new console of the Japanese company was only a matter of time. In addition, more details have also been shared. First, Yo-Kai Watch 4 will be launched this year (2018) in Japan. There was no mention of a precise launch date or window, and its localization and launch in the West has not been confirmed (although it is foreseeable that it will arrive in later date).
Today’s news was leaked by a Japanese gamer named Ryokutya2089, known for filtering content, he confirmed that the next edition of Famitsu will bring information from Yo-Kai Watch 4.
