Yoshida Says They are “having discussions” about Final Fantasy XIV Coming to Nintendo’s Consoles

In a recent interview with Game Reactor, Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that Square Enix is “having discussions” and “working towards” having the MMORPG launch on Nintendo’s consoles. The specific Nintendo however, was not specified.

“I’m sure that all of the media and our players probably suspecting they really want to have our game release on Nintendo’s consoles.” said Yoshida. “But the concept that we have for Final Fantasy 14 is to release our game on as many devices as possible. So looking towards achieving that goal. We are working towards, making progress and we are having discussions. So I hope that everyone can look forward to news in the time to come.”

According to leaker Kurakasis on Exputer, a mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV is currently in development and is being produced by Tencent, as part of a strategic alliance with Square Enix. Earlier this year, it was announced that Tencent canceled an unannounced mobile game based on the Nier series. Square Enix released the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion on July 2. The expansion features a slew of new locations, a new story, jobs, new hub city, new allied tribes, and more.
