NIS North America has just launched the free demo for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox on the PlayStation Store. Available on the PlayStation 4  and PlayStation 5, the free demo features two stages and multiple difficulty settings.

Developed by Nihon Falcom, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox launched in 2019 in Japan, the game saw a very positive reception in Japan with Famitsu awarding the game a 35 out of 40. The PlayStation 4 version of the game sold over 45,000 copies during launch week in Japan.

Following the successful launch, NIS North America announced a localization process to bring the JRPG to America, however, fans had to wait two long years before the game launched, now fans can get a hold of the game a month before its release.

The two stages available to chose from are Cloaca Maxima, a dungeon-crawling tunnels featuring Ragin bull, Crimson King Adol, and Doll. The other level available is Dry Moat Ruins, a level that features the flying elements present in the final version of the game, in this level, a new character called Hawk replaces Doll.

One of the best features of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox  is its fast-paced combat system, take a look at it down below:

Cloaca Maxima and Dry Moat Ruins are available to play on Easy, Normal, Hard, Nightmare, Inferno, and Lunatic difficulty settings.

Here is an overview of the game via NIS America:

Renowned adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at Balduq, a city annexed by the Romun Empire, only for Adol to be detained before setting foot inside. While imprisoned, he meets a mysterious woman named Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrums to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq.

Feared Protectors: Play as any of the six notorious Monstrum, each with their own unique Gifts that grant abilities such as scaling sheer walls or detecting hidden objects to protect the city from shadowy creatures.

The World Within the Walls: Explore the massive city, accept quests to aid the townsfolk, and enter the Grimwald Nox to vanquish the threats to Balduq.

Strength of the Night: Familiar mechanics such as Flash Dodge and Flash Guard allow you to outmaneuver your foes, while new additions such as Gifts and Boost Mode further augment your ability to fight.
