Zombies Will Not Return For Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

With the recent unveiling of Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, they’re beginning to pull back the curtains on some of the game’s finer details. We learned yesterday that the game’s multiplayer modes will feature crossplay between consoles and PC, and today we’ve learned that the coveted Zombies mode will be left out of the 2019 release.

The call on keeping brain-eating living dead out of the gameplay was made in order to keep the game from feeling less like a fantasy-driven experience with a more realistic approach. When compared to 2018’s Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare’s Campaign Gameplay Director Jacob Minkoff expressed to PlayStation Lifestyle the difference in flexibility between the two vastly different worlds from each series.

“But for us, we’re trying to create an authentic, realistic feeling world. We don’t have the flexibility to do something like put zombies in the game.” – Jacob Minkoff

While many Call of Duty fans love the idea of slaying hordes of zombies in fast-paced first-person shooter action, it seems like a good call for the integrity of the game to leave them out of Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is scheduled to release on October 25, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
